The Interdisciplinary Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance and Innovation (IMARI)

27.01.2027 – 29.01.2027
Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

IMARI 2027, the Interdisciplinary Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance and Innovation, takes place in Las Vegas from 27 to 29 January 2027. Organised jointly by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the meeting brings together scientists, clinicians, industry leaders and other specialists working across antimicrobial resistance research and innovation.

The scientific programme follows the antimicrobial innovation pathway from emerging resistance mechanisms and host-pathogen biology through drug discovery, translational development and early clinical studies. Sessions address areas including antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, new therapeutic targets, next-generation antimicrobial agents, clinical translation and the development of new approaches to difficult bacterial and fungal infections.

The meeting combines plenary sessions, scientific symposia, industry programmes and poster presentations, with detailed sessions and speakers across the three-day programme. A dedicated New Antimicrobial Agents session also highlights antibacterial and antifungal projects that are entering or already progressing through clinical development.

For professionals working in musculoskeletal and implant-associated infection, IMARI is a broader antimicrobial-resistance meeting rather than a dedicated orthopaedic infection conference. Its relevance lies in the opportunity to follow emerging antimicrobial strategies, translational research and therapeutic development that may ultimately influence the management of complex device-associated and bone and joint infections.
